PFIZER COVID-19 VACCINE OFFICE UPDATES

Kids 12 years of age and older

The FDA  and CDC recently approved a bivalent formulation of the Pfizer COVID vaccine that is to be used as a single booster dose at least 2 months following a primary vaccination series or last booster dose of any original (monovalent) COVID vaccine.   The updated bivalent booster contain 2 components of the SARS-CoV-2 virus: one of the original strain and the other in common between the BA.4 and BA.5 omicron variants. The updated boosters are expected to provide increased protection against the currently circulating omicron variant.

We will be offering this booster on a weekly basis and it can be scheduled with this year's flu vaccine.  If you would like to request that your child get the vaccine, please let us know through your patient portal account, by emailing us at mydocs@redbirdpediatrics.com, or by calling the office. (We will not be offering online scheduling for the vaccine.)

We will no longer be offering the primary series for the COVID vaccine for this age group.
